Overview

We are recruiting two experienced AWS Cloud Solution Architects to support a major cloud transformation programme for a large public‑sector organisation based in Scotland. This is a key opportunity to help shape and deliver a full migration from an existing on‑premise estate into a modern, secure AWS cloud environment.

You will join an established architecture team working at enterprise scale, providing technical leadership, architectural design, and governance throughout the migration lifecycle.

The Role

As an AWS Solution Architect, you will:

  • Analyse the current on‑premises IT landscape, including COTS products and custom applications.
  • Define the target AWS hosting architecture and contribute to the cloud migration roadmap.
  • Create clear application‑level migration strategies and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide architectural governance and participate in architecture review forums.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with AWS best practice, secure‑by‑design, and meet all compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with internal developers, engineers, testers and external delivery partners.
  • Maintain architectural documentation, patterns, and standards.
  • Engage with multiple technical and business stakeholders, translating complex detail into clear recommendations.
  • Support areas such as operating models, tagging strategy, FinOps, and service management where required.

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • 3+ years in a senior AWS cloud architecture role.
  • Proven experience designing secure, scalable cloud architectures.
  • Strong background analysing existing estates and defining future‑state architectures.
  • Ability to produce migration strategies for applications and data.
  • Knowledge of SOAP/REST APIs, API Gateway and integration patterns.
  • Deep understanding of AWS security controls and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence engaging technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working in complex environments with multiple suppliers and stakeholders
