THE PROBLEM_

The Global life sciences company was undertaking a global Human Resources Transformation Programme. The programme consisted of an enterprise-wide change to the client’s HR operating model and business processes, supported by a series of significant system changes including implementing a global single instance of HCM (Workday), a case management system, document management solution and a knowledge management solution.

The delivery was governed as one overarching programme and was originally planned to be rolled out using permanent resource from the client, supported by a bench of IT contractors. Due to concerns about IR35 and increased costs from labour market they later revised this model to ensure more structure and agility by moving to a fixed price delivery model.

THE SOLUTION_
Following a competitive tender process, the client selected Lorien to deliver the transformation programme via a Statement of Work (SoW), working closely with the internal HR and technology teams, the HCM provider and a wide array of 3rd party providers to ensure the programme was delivered on budget, in time, and to expectations.

THE PROCESS_
Lorien managed a scalable team of up to 25 to deliver this comprehensive programme. Over the course of the transformation the Lorien team was flexed in skill and size to accommodate different needs across the programme – providing the flexibility and expertise required at each stage to ensure continuity and deliver efficient results. Lorien provided the interface between the clients HR and Technology teams, the new HCM provider and a host of 3rd party suppliers. We managed the delivery of the programme through design, build, test and implementation.

THE OUTCOME_

Lorien successfully deployed Workday to the client, managing 140 different integrations from over 30 3rd party supplier systems and successfully migrating 14,000 employees data across 42 countries to the new system without any loss. Despite the complexities of the implementation (including a position of minimal global data and over 100 local HR systems), the team successfully hit all objectives, enabling us to deliver the programme to plan and on budget.

Feedback from the client was overwhelmingly positive. Stakeholders praised Lorien for the technical precision and efficient management of a complex delivery and were particularly pleased with the lack of issues and minimal changes needed post-deployment.
