Environment / DevOps Engineer

Coventry - 1 day onsite per week

3 Month Contract

£505/day inside IR35

Lorien's client is seeking an experienced Engineer to join their team on an initial 3-month contract. This role focuses on environment setup, DevOps support, and pipeline redesign, working closely with development and cloud engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Environment Setup:
    • Configure and deploy applications within Kubernetes and Coder.
    • Design and implement remote development environments for developers.
    • Define configuration, access, and usage standards for development teams.
  • Proof of Concept & Design:
    • Contribute to end-to-end design and create PoCs for environment solutions.
  • Development Tasks:
    • Build microservices in Java and .NET.
    • Remove GoCD, reconfigure pipelines, and set up GitHub Actions.
  • DevOps & Environment Support:
    • Maintain non-production environments, including test setups.
    • Work within the DevOps team as an Environment Engineer.
  • Automation & CI/CD:
    • Use GitHub and GitHub Actions for automation and integration.
  • Collaboration & Tools:
    • Manage tasks in Jira.
    • Collaborate with Cloud and Principal Engineers.
    • Work within a team of 2 internal staff and 3 third-party contractors.

Key Projects

  • Removing GoCD and redesigning pipelines using strategic technologies such as GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and Digital.ai Deploy.
  • Delivering remote development environments for developers based on AWS EKS and Coder.

Required Experience

  • Experience implementing remote development environments (preferably using Coder and AWS EKS).
  • Experience with GoCD (removal and migration to modern tools).
  • Strong experience with containers (Amazon EKS, Docker).
  • Proven background in CI/CD pipeline design and DevOps practices.
  • Hands-on experience with Java, .NET, and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, and environment automation.
