Eleanor Carroll - Senior Account Manager at Lorien - has been named a Finalist for Recruiter of the Year at the 2020 Made in Manchester (MIMA) Awards. Created by pro-manchester, the awards celebrate the best of Manchester’s young business talent.
As one of Lorien’s rising stars, we are thrilled to see Eleanor’s achievements recognised by the wider community. Eleanor joined Lorien in 2016, quickly becoming a core part of the Manchester team.
In her time here, she has mastered recruiting for and managing clients from diverse sectors (including professional services, financial services, information technology, digital, and public sector), of all scales and sizes.
Eleanor is an integral part of Manchester’s thriving tech scene, having built an extensive tech network over a seven-year career in technology recruitment. Her success is directly linked to the time she takes to understand both her clients and candidates, and to give them a high-touch, personal service from beginning to end.
Eleanor fully embraces the Lorien ethos of knowing your customer. Whether it’s finding the perfect fit, locating niche tech talent, or working to strategy - such as cost-savings or tight timeframes - Eleanor’s clients trust her to deliver a high quality, insight-led service.
In addition to her delivery approach, Eleanor was nominated for her outstanding performance on a recent project for an international media, digital marketing, and communications company. The client was opening a new digital operations centre in Manchester and needed to attract a high volume of niche, multi-lingual talent quickly in a competitive market.
As the Account Manager, Eleanor managed a team to attract, engage, and qualify candidates while taking on senior and niche hires herself. She was also responsible for engaging with the end client to ensure delivery matched expectations; designing and implementing the solution and ensuring that candidates had an exceptional experience. This included helping to build a microsite, a candidate pack, and a bespoke game to assess candidates for cultural fit. 918 candidates were attracted, with 59 candidates placed ahead of schedule.

Speaking to Eleanor about her recent nomination and shortlisting, she said: “I’m honoured to have been shortlisted for the Recruiter of the Year award. This year has really pushed me; I feel like I’ve learnt a lot and really grown into my role. And while I’m proud of how hard I’ve worked, I know that it would have been a lot harder without the support of my manager, my team, and the wider Lorien business. I’m looking forward to what next year brings.”
The winner of Recruiter of the Year at the Made in Manchester 2020 Awards will be announced on 6th February. Good luck Eleanor, your nomination is well-deserved, and to win even more so!
