Our major UK banking client require our support for a Portfolio Manager to join them on a permanent basis. You will be responsible to take on a critical role managing a portfolio to realise the strategic objectives of the function and the bank. You'll be working in an innovative, forward thinking environment where you'll be able to have a tangible effect on the function.

What you'll do:

You'll manage an investment portfolio to realise strategic objectives of the function and the organisation by providing investment planning, transformation portfolio and design services, and partnering with a range of stakeholders to make sure an effective pipeline view of investment requirements is maintained, used, and kept under regular review. You'll also be responsible for increasingly complex and critical elements of the portfolio.

It'll also be up to you to:

  • Define, create and manage a multi-year strategic investment plan and make sure that it incorporates requirements of the budget
  • Provide cost-benefit forecasts for current and future years, aligning to the strategic priorities
  • Define and develop a portfolio structure to provide appropriate governance, control and management of programme and business-wide interdependencies
  • Conduct regular reviews of the investment portfolio, challenge the status quo, and drive informed decision making about portfolio priorities
  • Manage the review and approval process of the financial business case
  • Define relevant, timely and accurate MI reporting to assist with the optimisation of strategic investment

The skills you'll need

To take on this role, you'll need an appropriate portfolio management qualification.

You'll also need:

  • Substantial experience in transforming an organisation's Way of Working, moving from legacy practices to Agile/DevOps
  • Experience in delivering programmes which employ streaming, batch and public cloud technologies (preferably AWS, Kafka, Informatica)
  • Should be able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder management, planning and leadership skills
  • Experience in representing a department through to the rest of the organisation including via formal governance (e.g. RiskCo)
  • Demonstrates senior management experience in both Technology and Transformation leadership
