Technical Business Analyst

Our Edinburgh based banking client are currently looking for a Technical Analyst to join their team on an initial 6 month contract

Purpose of the role

  • Working within a Feature Team, the purpose of the Technical Specialist /Analyst is to define technical solutions to business problems. The Technical Specialist/ Analyst possesses high levels of knowledge in a particular technical specialism and of the types of business problem which it can play a role in solving.
  • Technical Specialists work in permanent teams supporting the full solutions lifecycle (from initial development, through enhancement and maintenance to replacement and/or decommissioning).
  • As part of the Engineering CoE, Technical Specialists from across the Bank collaborate with Architects and Engineers to improve the Bank's architecture, design and engineering capability.

Accountabilities

  • The exploitation of his/her specialist technical knowledge to produce working solutions
    • Works across the lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design, through coding to testing, deployment and operations
    • Works in a permanent Feature Team, exploiting and developing his/her specialism in the context of the associated Platform
    • Liaises with Principal Engineers, the Domain Architect and other key stakeholders to understand how the Platform works and how it supports business objectives
    • Improves performance continually through the ongoing evaluation and analysis of metrics
  • The application of agile methods to the development of solutions
    • Deploys solutions continually and rapidly, working through backlog
  • The production of resilient and long lived solutions
    • Produces solutions that meet current non functional requirements and are flexible to cope with future functional and nonfunctional needs
  • The delivery of Intentional Architecture and the formulation of Emergent Design
    • Collaborates with Principal Engineers and architects in the domain to understand the wider Platform, Domain and Enterprise agendas and supports the realisation of these
    • Produces innovative ideas and confirms these through experimentation and prototyping. Engages with Principal Engineers to validate and leverage these in wider contexts
    • Uses, and contributes to the development of, standard patterns
  • The use of DevOps techniques
    • Designs and develops solutions with a focus on the automation of build, test and deployment activities using executable patterns
  • The development of the discipline of Architecture, Design and Engineering
    • Actively contributes to the Engineering Centre of Excellence (CoE) by cross sharing best practice and learnings
    • Actively undertakes personal development and seeks formal accreditation
