As an Audit Senior, Credit Risk you'll undertake audits, helping to identify controls which mitigate key business risks and test that they're adequate and effective. You'll take responsibility for producing audit papers and building good stakeholder relationships.

Internal Audit (IA) are a 90-strong community with backgrounds in everything from Finance and Compliance to IT and Retail Banking. We use our expertise, critical thinking, and experience to complete internal audits across the whole Society.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside your colleagues in the Risk and Central Communities audit team you'll use your communication and influencing skills to help present your findings to senior management and agree on the actions that should be taken. You'll use agile auditing techniques to support efficient delivery of audits, maximise the value of audit work and build effective relationships with stakeholders. Your analytical skills will also be used to identify areas for improvement in the focus and/or efficiency of the team's work, whilst your influencing skills will be called into action in presenting these potential improvements to Internal Audit's senior leadership team.

As a minimum requirement for the role, you'll:

  • Plan, lead and deliver Credit reviews of varying complexities and types (e.g. secured, unsecured, acquisition, portfolio management) to a high quality
  • Identify and assess the input, processing and output risks and controls (both manual and automated) for a given business process;
  • Have experience of producing clear, comprehensive and concise documentation which will support your audit work; attention to detail is crucial in creating quality audit outputs;
  • Have good communication and influencing skills at various levels including the ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Have, or are on your way to, completing a relevant professional or industry-specific qualification and
  • Good analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

About you

Specifically we are looking for someone with:

  • A good understanding of Retail Credit Risk.
  • A willingness to widen their experience as work may include auditing Risk and Member Services across a wide range of business areas.

It would be helpful if you also had:

  • Experience of auditing;
  • An understanding of key business processes in Financial Services, and
  • Experience working in a relevant business environment with strong reporting and analytical skills using analytics packages such as SAS or SQL
