Role Overview
The IT Project Manager will lead end-to-end delivery of SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) projects with a strong focus on Vendor Master Data domains. This role requires deep experience overseeing SAP MDG implementations, managing cross-functional teams, evaluating project health, and ensuring high-quality governance processes. The Project Manager will be responsible for assessing the current state of ongoing initiatives, identifying risks, defining corrective actions, and guiding teams through structured, transparent execution.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead full lifecycle SAP MDG (Vendor) implementation projects including planning, design, build, testing, deployment, and hypercare.
  • Drive project governance, scope control, decision alignment, and stakeholder communication.
  • Coordinate with SAP functional teams, integration leads, data owners, business SMEs, and external vendors.

Current State Assessment

  • Conduct structured assessments of project status across scope, schedule, budget, resourcing, risks, and quality.
  • Evaluate the maturity of MDG workflows, data models, validation rules, and integration points.
  • Identify root causes of project delays or defects and develop actionable remediation plans.
  • Produce clear assessment reports and recommendations for executive stakeholders.

Execution & Delivery

  • Manage project plans, RAID logs, deliverables, and change requests.
  • Monitor and report progress using standard PMO tools and processes.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, data governance, and compliance standards.
  • Oversee testing cycles (SIT, UAT) including defect tracking, quality gates, and release readiness.
  • Drive vendor master data cleansing and migration readiness activities.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact between IT, business data owners, and third-party partners.
  • Facilitate workshops, steering committee meetings, and design sessions.
  • Translate technical concepts into business-friendly communication. Required Experience
    • 5+ years of IT Project Management experience, ideally within large, global matrix organizations.
    • Proven experience delivering SAP MDG solutions, specifically Vendor Master Data processes.
    • Strong understanding of:
    • SAP ECC/S4 Vendor data models
    • MDG workflows, BRF+, data quality rules
    • Integration with procurement and finance processes (MM, FI)
  • Demonstrated capability to assess troubled or stalled projects and provide corrective direction.
  • Experience with data governance and master data management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with agile and waterfall methodologies.

    • Expert in project planning, critical path analysis, dependency mapping.
    • Strong risk and issue management discipline.
    • Proficiency with PM tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Smartsheet).
    • Solid financial management: budgeting, forecasting, vendor management.

Technical & Functional Skills

    • Deep understanding of SAP MDG (Vendor) data models and data governance concepts.
    • Knowledge of data migration tools (SAP DS, BODS, LSMW, or cloud migration tools).
    • Ability to evaluate complex SAP functional/integration designs.
    • Understanding of master data quality frameworks and metrics.

Assessment & Analytical Skills

    • Skilled at conducting project health checks and maturity assessments.
    • Ability to quickly identify project gaps across process, people, and technology.
    • Strong decision-making and structured problem-solving skills.

Leadership & Communication

    • Clear, concise, and confident communicator-able to influence senior stakeholders.
    • Strong facilitation skills for cross-functional design and governance meetings.
    • Ability to navigate conflict and drive alignment.
    • High accountability with a focus on delivery and transparency.
