Business Analyst, AI Initiatives

Location: London (hybrid)
Contract: 6 Months

We're looking for a Business Analyst to play a key role in shaping and delivering AI initiatives across Sales and Marketing for a leading global B2B events and media business. Sitting between Product and Engineering, you'll turn product vision into clear, detailed requirements and Jira stories that engineers can pick up and build with confidence.
This is a chance to help define how AI changes the way a business finds, wins and grows customers. You'll bring a practical understanding of how AI products are built and where they add real commercial value, and you'll move easily between the big picture and the detail, knowing how much detail each story needs.

About the team

You'll join an established Commercial AI team that builds AI products and workflows across a portfolio of events and media brands. The team is growing to meet critical demand for AI delivery across the business.
You'll work closely with product managers, engineers and commercial stakeholders across Sales and Marketing, helping take AI ideas from concept to live products that change how teams work. The team moves quickly, so you'll need to be comfortable thinking on your feet. This is a hands-on role supporting the product team day to day, not a pure requirements function.

What you'll do

  • Work with Product to understand the vision, goals and outcomes for each initiative, and challenge requirements where they're unclear or incomplete
  • Take a proactive, hands-on approach: work with incomplete information, switch between priorities and find the answer yourself where one doesn't exist
  • Support the product team's day-to-day operations, from pulling together performance metrics to helping roll out new features and gathering stakeholder requirements, picking things up as they come rather than waiting to be asked
  • Break product requirements into epics and user stories in Jira, with clear acceptance criteria, so engineers can pick them up without chasing for detail
  • Keep the backlog refined, prioritised with the product manager and ready ahead of each sprint
  • Run refinement sessions with engineers and answer questions during build so work keeps moving
  • Map current and future sales and marketing processes, and spot where AI can remove effort or improve results
  • Define the data, prompts, integrations and edge cases an AI feature depends on, including how it should behave when the model gets it wrong
  • Work with the Tester to make sure acceptance criteria can be tested, and support user acceptance testing with the business
  • Keep requirements traceable from product goal to story to release, so it's clear what's been built and why
  • Help sales and marketing stakeholders understand what's feasible, what's coming and what trade-offs are being made

What you'll deliver

  • Jira epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria, ready for engineers to pick up
  • A refined, prioritised backlog ahead of each sprint
  • Current and future state process maps for the sales and marketing workflows in scope
  • Requirements for each AI feature, covering data sources, prompts, integrations, edge cases and fallback behaviour
  • Traceability from product goal to story to release
  • UAT scenarios and business sign-off, delivered with the Tester
  • Regular stakeholder updates on scope, progress and trade-offs

About you

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst in an agile product team, working closely with product managers and engineers
  • Hands-on experience delivering AI or machine learning products, such as LLM-based tools, agents, or recommendation or scoring models
  • A practical grasp of how AI is built and deployed: prompts, retrieval, data pipelines, model limits, evaluation and human review
  • Experience in sales and marketing technology or processes, such as CRM, lead generation, segmentation, campaign or account management
  • Strong user story writing in Jira, with clear acceptance criteria at the right level of detail for the team
  • The ability to hold the big picture in mind while working through the detail, and to explain both to technical and non-technical people
  • Confidence running workshops and getting to the real need behind a request
  • Good judgement on when a requirement is ready, and the confidence to push back when it isn't
  • A degree in business, computer science or a related subject, or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • A business analysis qualification, such as BCS or IIBA
  • Experience with Salesforce, Clay or similar sales data and enrichment tools
  • Background in B2B, events or media businesses
  • Familiarity with process mapping notation such as BPMN
  • Experience writing requirements for AI agents or multi-step automated workflows
