Inter Company Accountant - Outside IR35

London / Hybrid

JOB PURPOSE
The Intercompany Accountant is responsible for managing, reconciling, and resolving intercompany transactions and balances across the Group. The role ensures accurate and timely intercompany accounting, strong governance, and alignment between entities, supporting the month-end close, the production of statutory financial accounts, and audit requirements.


This position plays a critical role in maintaining balance sheet integrity, supporting statutory reporting, improving intercompany processes, and acting as a key liaison between local finance teams, shared service centres, and Group Finance.


The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, international environment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Intercompany Accounting & Reconciliation
  • Prepare and maintain monthly intercompany reconciliations across all Group entities.
  • Investigate, resolve, and document intercompany differences in a timely manner.
  • Ensure intercompany balances agree between counterparties prior to period close.
  • Monitor and clear intercompany suspense and clearing accounts.
Month-End, Statutory Reporting & Audit Support
  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring all intercompany activity is accurately recorded.
  • Prepare intercompany journals, accruals, and recharges in line with Group policies.
  • Support the preparation of statutory financial accounts, ensuring intercompany balances are accurate, reconciled, and appropriately disclosed.
  • Provide intercompany schedules and supporting documentation for statutory audits.
  • Respond to audit queries relating to intercompany balances, transactions, and elimination

Governance, Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Group intercompany accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a complete audit trail and supporting documentation for all intercompany transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits, including statutory and group audits.
  • Identify control gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen the control environment.

Process Improvement & Projects

  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of the intercompany matrix and counterparty mappings.
  • Assist with system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process standardisation.
  • Contribute to intercompany and finance transformation projects (e.g. ERP implementations, restructures).
Statutory Reporting & Audit
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP / IFRS for UK and Gibraltar for William Hill
  • Support the year-end audit process, providing required schedules and responding to auditor queries.
  • Lead the audits and preparation of statutory accounts for local entities.
  • Ensure compliance with Companies Act requirements and Group accounting policies.
Business Support & Collaboration
  • Work closely with FP&A, Treasury, Tax and other internal bases teams.
  • Work with Shared services centre based in the Philippines
  • Provide financial analysis and insights as required.
Ad hoc responsibilities
  • Ensure appropriate continuous professional development, keeping abreast of all internal, legislative, accounting and best practice business partnering developments. Ensure appropriate interpretation and implementation of required changes in a timely manner.

ATTRIBUTES :ESSENTIAL :
Educational /
Occupational
Experience
  • Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 2-3 years post qualification experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience in financial reporting, or related roles, with a strong understanding of accounting standards and regulations
  • Experience in a similar Financial Accountant role, ideally within a UK-based business.
  • Experience working in a multi-entity or international environment (desirable).
  • Ideally experience working in a listed environment, but not mandatory
Skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and ability to solve complex accounting issues.
  • Excellent Excel and data manipulation skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, JDE, etc.) is an advantage
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to understand and align financial strategies with business objectives.
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and principles, financial regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Are proactive in nature
