Lorien's leading banking client is looking for a Market Data Business Analyst to support and enhance the organisation's Market Data Services capability.
The role will act as a key link between business stakeholders, technology teams, suppliers and Supply Chain Services, helping to ensure market data is delivered efficiently, compliantly and at the best possible commercial value.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Market Data Business Analyst or Market Data specialist with a strong understanding of the commercial, contractual and technical aspects of market data within Financial Services.
They will be comfortable analysing complex data usage and licensing arrangements, engaging with vendors and senior stakeholders, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs without compromising business requirements or regulatory and contractual obligations.
Experience within a buy-side environment, combined with knowledge of market data licensing, entitlement management, DACS, data feeds, benchmarks and reference data, would be particularly valuable.
This role is based in London.
This role will be Via Umbrella.
Working in a Hybrid Model of 2 days a week on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Build trusted relationships with business, technology and senior stakeholders, providing expert market data guidance and influencing key decisions.
- Manage market data licensing and usage, ensuring compliance with supplier contracts, policies and intellectual property terms.
- Analyse complex market data flows, applying commercial and licensing terms and recommending appropriate governance controls.
- Ensure applications and desktop services comply with third-party market data policies and entitlements.
- Lead cost optimisation and efficiency initiatives, identifying opportunities to reduce spend and maximise supplier value.
- Manage and support supplier audits, challenging findings and minimising contractual, compliance and financial risk.
- Work with Supply Chain Services and vendors to improve commercial outcomes and supplier performance.
- Produce accurate management information, financial analysis, budgets and reporting, providing clear recommendations to stakeholders.
- Support effective data governance and entitlement management, including inventories, usage controls and permissioning.
Experience & Skills
- Strong experience within Market Data, ideally within Financial Services; buy-side experience is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of market data products and providers, including terminals, data feeds, benchmarks and reference data.
- Understanding of market data delivery including direct feeds, consolidated feeds and Direct Market Access (DMA).
- Experience with market data licensing, contracts, policies and intellectual property terms.
- Knowledge of data governance and entitlement management, including inventories, usage controls, permissioning and tools such as DACS.
- Experience using market data inventory or licensing systems.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing, negotiation and supplier-management skills.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, particularly around financial analysis, cost optimisation and management reporting.
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word, with proficiency in Microsoft Teams.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and report-writing skills, with the ability to translate complex licensing and market data requirements into clear recommendations.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail, prioritisation skills and the ability to deliver effectively under pressure.
