Lorien's leading Lorien's leading Pension and Investments client is looking for a hands-on AI & Data Engineer to design, build and productionise AI agents, automation solutions, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) capabilities and data products supporting Balance Sheet Modelling.
The role will work closely with business, architecture and technology teams to translate business use cases into scalable, secure and production-ready AI and data solutions. The successful candidate will combine strong AI engineering capabilities with practical data engineering experience and an understanding of how to deploy, monitor and support AI solutions within an enterprise environment.
This role is based in UK Wide.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deploy production-ready AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Build RAG solutions, integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) with enterprise data and knowledge sources.
- Apply prompt engineering techniques to improve the accuracy, reliability and effectiveness of AI solutions.
- Translate business requirements and use cases into robust technical solutions.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data products supporting Balance Sheet Modelling and AI use cases.
- Develop reusable AI, data and integration components that can be leveraged across multiple solutions.
- Design and integrate APIs to connect AI capabilities with internal applications, data sources and third-party services.
- Develop workflow automation solutions using Power Platform and Copilot Studio.
- Work with Azure Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric to process, transform and manage data.
- Implement appropriate testing, DevOps, monitoring and operational controls to ensure solutions are reliable and supportable in production.
- Produce clear technical documentation covering solution design, deployment, configuration and ongoing support.
- Collaborate with AI architects, data teams, engineering teams and business stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
Key Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Strong hands-on experience in AI Engineering, particularly building AI agents and agentic workflows.
- Practical experience working with LLMs, prompt engineering and RAG architectures.
- Strong development skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience with Azure Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong understanding of data engineering, data pipelines and API integration.
- Experience developing automation solutions using Microsoft Power Platform and Copilot Studio.
- Experience taking AI or data solutions from proof of concept through to production.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and production support.
- Ability to translate business use cases into scalable technical solutions.
Desirable:
- Experience working within Financial Services, Banking or Balance Sheet Modelling environments.
- Understanding of enterprise AI governance, security and responsible AI principles.
- Experience building reusable AI frameworks, components or accelerators.
- Exposure to cloud-native Azure architectures and enterprise integration patterns.
