Backend Software Engineer- AI

We are currently recruiting for a Backend Software Engineer with AI experience to join one of our Insurance clients on a 6-month contract.

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions.
• Analyse requirements and contribute to technical solution design.
• Develop high-quality code using appropriate design patterns and engineering principles.
• Produce unit, integration, and automated test coverage for developed solutions.
• Participate in peer code reviews and engineering quality practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing activities.
• Support troubleshooting, defect resolution, and root cause analysis.
• Assist in improving development processes, tooling, automation, and delivery practices.
• Contribute to technical discussions regarding architecture, scalability, performance, and security.
• Support implementation and adoption of DevOps and CI/CD practices.
• Identify opportunities for innovation, optimisation, and automation.
• Support operational resilience and production support activities where required.

Qualifications & Experience Essential

• Experience developing, testing, and deploying software solutions in production environments.
• Experience with code reviews, automated testing, and source control practices.
• Strong capability in designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and resilient server-side services.
• Experience with back-end programming languages and frameworks such as Java, C#, .NET, Node.js, Python, or equivalent technologies.
• Good understanding of API design, service integration, asynchronous processing, error handling, logging, and observability.
• Experience working with relational and/or non-relational databases, data models, stored procedures, queries, and performance tuning.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools to support software design, implementation, testing, documentation, and code review.
• Understanding of responsible AI usage, including validation of generated outputs, protection of confidential information, and compliance with organisational governance.
• Experience with DevOps and platform engineering practices.
• Experience with container technology and microservice architectures.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development practices.
• Experience operating within regulated or security-conscious environments.
