Infrastructure Engineer (Contract)

Location: Reading, Havant, Perth or Glasgow
Duration: 6 Months
Rate: Competitive (Inside IR35)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite per week

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a major infrastructure insourcing and transformation programme within a large enterprise environment.

This is a hands-on role focused on supporting the discovery, documentation and transition of an existing infrastructure estate from incumbent suppliers, before moving into ongoing BAU support, operational improvement and project delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess broad infrastructure expertise across Windows, Linux, virtualisation, monitoring, backup and security technologies, coupled with experience operating within regulated or highly controlled environments.

Key Skills Required

• Strong Windows and/or Linux server administration experience
• Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
• VMware and/or Hyper-V
• Infrastructure monitoring tools (SCOM, SolarWinds, Splunk or similar)
• Backup and recovery solutions (Rubrik, NetBackup or equivalent)
• PowerShell, Bash or other scripting/automation skills
• Experience supporting both BAU operations and infrastructure projects
• Strong technical documentation and discovery experience
• Excellent stakeholder and supplier engagement skills

Highly Desirable Experience

• CyberArk or other Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions
• Supporting infrastructure within secure, restricted or highly regulated environments
• Working with segregated networks, firewalls and jump hosts
• Managing infrastructure where change control is strict and downtime is highly sensitive
• Infrastructure patching, monitoring and maintenance within critical operational environments
• Citrix and SCCM/MECM
• Hybrid on-premise and cloud environments
• Azure and/or AWS exposure

Clearance

SC Clearance is highly desirable, although candidates who have previously held SC Clearance or are eligible to obtain clearance will also be considered.
