We're working with a leading UK banking organisation to recruit a Senior DevOps Engineer to support their Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) platform-a cornerstone of the UK's financial infrastructure.
You'll be joining a team that operates at the heart of this critical service, helping to ensure the smooth running of the UK financial system. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on mission-critical, large-scale systems while driving modern DevOps practices in a complex, high-availability environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support, maintain, and enhance a critical RTGS production platform
- Drive automation and continuous improvement across infrastructure and delivery pipelines
- Manage environments and ensure safe and controlled releases into live production
- Lead and coordinate incident management, ensuring minimal disruption to critical services
- Coach and mentor engineers, embedding DevOps best practices
- Collaborate with architects and engineers on end-to-end system design and domain roadmaps
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning and delivery
- Provide out-of-hours support in a 24/7 operational environment
Experience
- Strong experience supporting production systems (including on-call environments)
- Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes / OpenShift (on-premise)
- Linux systems administration in high-availability environments
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, integrated with CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins)
- Proven track record of building and improving automation-first DevOps environments
- Experience with observability tools (Splunk, ELK, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Strong experience with incident management and service recovery
- Solid understanding of Agile delivery and DevOps principles
