Our public sector client is looking for an experienced Animal Health Officer to support their regulatory team on a short-term contract.

This is a hands-on role focused on routine inspections, compliance, and animal welfare enforcement across a variety of premises.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:

• Enforcing animal health & welfare legislation
• Carrying out licensing compliance inspections (homes, kennels, riding schools, retail, etc.)
• Supporting the current part-time Animal Health Officer
• Investigating animal welfare complaints and supporting disease control activity
• Maintaining accurate records in line with Scottish Government standards (including Uniform system)

Focus is on routine surveillance, education, and enforcement - no active disease outbreaks

What You'll Need

• Experience within a Scottish local authority regulatory service
• Strong knowledge of:
  • Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006
  • Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Scotland) Regulations 2021
• Full UK driving licence + access to a vehicle
