Full Stack Engineer (Contract) - Javascript + Python (Cloud GCP)
London (Hybrid - 2 days onsite)
12-month contract | Immediate start | Likely extension

We're looking for an experienced Full Stack Engineer to join a high-performing product engineering team building user-facing, AI-powered applications. This is a hands-on role focused on designing and delivering robust, scalable software rather than pure ML or data engineering. You'll work on end-to-end features within an agentic application environment, contributing to real-world, production-grade systems that are already live and evolving.

What you'll be doing

  • Designing and building end-to-end user-facing features
  • Working across frontend and backend within a modern cloud-based architecture
  • Improving reliability, scalability, and performance of existing applications
  • Contributing to technical design and architectural decisions
  • Collaborating closely with product, engineering, and research stakeholders
  • Building features such as recommendations, user profiles, and other customer-facing functionality
  • This is a software engineering role, not a data engineering or ML research position.

Tech stack & skills
Essential

  • Strong experience with JavaScript and Python
  • Solid cloud experience (GCP preferred; Azure acceptable)
  • Full stack development experience across frontend and backend
  • Comfort working in containerised environments

Nice to have

  • Kubernetes
  • Cloud deployment and CI/CD exposure
  • React or Next.js
  • Experience contributing to system and application design (not just delivery)

What we're looking for

  • Experience as a software or full stack engineer
  • Execution-driven, proactive mindset
  • Comfortable forming and voicing technical opinions
  • Experience working in agile teams
  • Interest in working on scientific or research-led products
  • Able to slot into an existing team and add value quickly

Why this role?

  • Work on cutting-edge, real-world AI-enabled products
  • Freedom to put your own ideas into practice
  • High-impact work that's challenging and rewarding
  • Unlimited token budget and modern tooling
  • Strong track record of contract extensions and contract-to-perm opportunities
  • Collaborative, ambitious engineering culture
