Lead Platform Engineer
Lead Platform Engineer - London (Contract)
Cloud Platforms · Full‑Stack Engineering · DevOps
Are you a full‑stack engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, shaping technical direction and building platforms that scale? We're looking for a Lead Platform Engineer to help design, develop and maintain cloud‑based systems that are secure, resilient and built for long‑term growth.
This is an opportunity to work with architects, stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver high‑impact platforms while mentoring others and driving best practice across the organisation.
What you'll be doing
In this role, you'll take ownership of platform engineering across the full stack - from front‑end components to the cloud infrastructure that supports them. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building scalable, secure and reliable cloud‑based platforms
- Shaping technical direction and helping define engineering standards
- Working closely with architects and cross‑functional teams to design end‑to‑end solutions
- Tackling ambiguous technical challenges and turning them into clear, deliverable work
- Writing clean, well‑structured code across multiple languages and environments
What you'll bring
You'll be a technically strong, collaborative engineer with the ability to work across the entire stack and guide others in modern engineering approaches.
Required experience:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
- Strong background in DevOps and platform engineering
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Python, Java or Ruby
- Expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
- Containerisation and orchestration: Docker & Kubernetes
- Experience with relational and non‑relational databases (SQL/NoSQL)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, etc.)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑collaboration skills
Preferred:
- Experience with serverless architectures
- Microservices design and implementation
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure or GCP)
Why this role?
You'll join an engineering culture that values autonomy, modern tooling and continuous improvement. You'll have influence over technical direction, exposure to complex architectural challenges and the opportunity to mentor engineers while still remaining hands‑on. If interested, apply now!
