Technical Lead / Architect - MRO Transformation in Aviation

Contract: 6 months (likely extension)
Location: West London / Middlesex (3 days per week on-site)

A leading Engineering & Maintenance organisation is undertaking a major transformation programme, replacing its current Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) system ahead of critical business and technology milestones. Now in the Initiation & Discovery phase, the programme is defining strategy, evaluating implementation options, and assessing business impact for a large-scale digital transition.

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead / Architect with MRO & ERP experience to drive the technical delivery of this high‑profile programme. Acting as the central coordination point across all technology workstreams, you will ensure cohesive solution design, smooth integration, robust data migration, strong cybersecurity alignment, and successful delivery through to cutover.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Coordination

• Lead and coordinate technical SMEs and vendor partners across architecture, data, integration, cybersecurity, infrastructure, testing, and cutover.
• Ensure all technical work aligns with programme milestones and business objectives.
• Act as the primary technical interface for senior stakeholders, providing clear communication on progress, risks, and dependencies.

Solution Design & Governance

• Oversee solution architecture to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
• Facilitate technical design authority forums and support key design decisions.

Data Migration & Integration

• Ensure robust data migration planning, validation, and governance.
• Coordinate integration between the new MRO solution and wider enterprise systems.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

• Ensure all technical solutions meet cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
• Manage technical risk assessments and mitigation activities.

Infrastructure & Service Delivery

• Oversee readiness of hosting, networks, and technical environments.
• Define service delivery models and BAU support structures for go‑live.

Testing & Cutover

• Coordinate technical testing strategy (SIT, performance, UAT support).
• Lead technical cutover planning and execution to minimise operational disruption.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Deliver clear, concise updates to senior leadership.
• Align technical priorities with business requirements and programme direction.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead, Principal Architect, or Enterprise Architect on major ERP or MRO programmes.
• Understanding of IT / MRO solution architecture, data migration, integration, and infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and senior stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage complex dependencies and drive decision‑making across multiple technical domains.
• Experience with aviation‑related MRO solutions such as AMOS or SAP is highly desirable.
