Senior DevOps Engineer (SC-Cleared)
6 Month Contract
Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office (base office can be London or Leeds)

Our high-profile Banking client is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join the team responsible for the Bank's Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) platform-one of the UK's most critical national infrastructure services.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you'll join a collaborative multidisciplinary team, supporting the delivery, operation and continuous improvement of the RTGS platform.
You'll work across the entire engineering lifecycle-from maintaining on‑prem services to driving automation, mentoring colleagues, and shaping technical roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting, maintaining, and developing changes across the Bank's RTGS solution.
- Coaching and mentoring colleagues on best practice DevOps approaches.
- Working closely with solution designers and helping shape domain‑wide architectural and technology roadmaps.
- Managing deployments, environments, and recovery procedures for mission‑critical systems.
- Participating in agile ceremonies and promoting continuous improvement and modern engineering practices.
- Providing in‑ and out‑of‑hours support to a 24/7 production environment.
- Owning major incident responses and driving post‑incident reliability improvements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong production support experience, including on-call and OOH releases.
- Significant hands-on experience with on‑prem Kubernetes / OpenShift.
- Linux systems administration in high‑availability environments.
- Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, with CI/CD integration (Jenkins).
- Deep understanding of observability tooling: ELK, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana.
- Proven incident‑management leadership.
- Strong knowledge of Agile and modern DevOps practices.
Essential Skills:
- Leadership and mentoring capability.
- Security‑first mindset.
- Strong adherence to governance, SLAs and environment management best practice.
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
Desirable:
- Exposure to financial services systems or payments platforms.
- Relevant certifications (Oracle, RedHat, Microsoft, Kafka, etc.).
