Project Manager (Decommissioning)

Hybrid Working - Local Office - 2 days a month on site.

Financial Services

Lorien's leading banking client is looking for a Decommissioning Project Manager to lead the end‑to‑end retirement of a key digital product that, despite delivering new features, did not significantly change user behaviour and has now received formal decommissioning approval from ExCo.

You will oversee the entire decommissioning lifecycle - from issuing formal notifications to delivery within a governance-heavy environment involving Product Committees, front‑line stakeholders, and structured engagement with Bank communications teams.

This role requires a self‑starter with strong delivery discipline and the ability to navigate complex governance frameworks.

This role is based in Local office.

This role will be Via Umbrella.

Working in a Hybrid Model of 2 days a month on-site.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Own and deliver the full product decommissioning plan.
  • Manage formal notifications, including the six-month notice period to a third party.
  • Lead communications planning and ensure front-line colleagues are informed and supported.
  • Coordinate across Product, Technology, Governance, Compliance, and Communications.
  • Produce and maintain clear, accurate, and auditable documentation.
  • Oversee technical decommissioning activities and operational offboarding.
  • Manage project governance, including RAID, reporting, packs, and approvals.
  • Work with PR / Comms teams to align messaging and internal communications.
  • Track user traffic and feature data to support decision-making throughout the decommissioning process.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong background in project management, ideally within digital or banking environments.
  • Proven ability to navigate heavy governance and approval frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and non-technical groups.
  • High-quality documentation and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive workstreams with little supervision.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in large banking, financial services, or regulated industries.
  • Prior involvement in product decommissioning or end-of-life product lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with governance structures and processes.
