Data Protection Officer - Fife

Data Protection Officer - Fife - 6 month contract - £250 per day via umbrella

We're working with a public sector organisation in Fife to recruit an experienced Data Protection Officer to provide strategic leadership, expert advice and robust assurance across data protection and information governance.

This is a high‑impact role supporting senior leadership and Board‑level decision‑making, with a strong focus on ethical, transparent and compliant use of data within a complex, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide independent, expert advice on UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and wider information governance legislation
• Offer strategic challenge and assurance on data protection risks, digital programmes and major transformation initiatives
• Strengthen governance by embedding data ethics, transparency and public trust into decision‑making
• Support oversight of information sharing, security governance and data‑driven service development
• Act as a champion for the rights of individuals, promoting a strong culture of accountability and integrity

About You

• Significant experience in a senior data protection or information governance role
• Confident advising at senior leadership / Board level
• Strong knowledge of UK data protection legislation and regulatory best practice
• Comfortable operating in large, complex or regulated environments
• Able to provide clear, pragmatic guidance to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
