Overview:
Our client, a leading insurer, is seeking a highly experienced Capital Modelling Actuary to join their Corporate Actuarial function. This role is critical in enabling executive decision-making through robust capital modelling, risk analysis, and strategic insight. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of key updates to the Internal Economic Capital Model (IECM), ensuring alignment with the organisation's evolving risk profile and regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and governance of IECM updates, including model changes, expert judgements, data quality, documentation, and validation.
  • Provide clear, actionable insights to senior stakeholders on capital requirements and risk positioning.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and independent validation teams to ensure model integrity and transparency.
  • Present technical modelling outcomes and justifications to governance forums and senior leadership.
  • Support key deliverables such as ORSA, risk appetite, and ad-hoc capital analysis.
  • Ensure capital models are technically sound, efficient, well-documented, and compliant with regulatory standards (e.g. Solvency II, IFRS 17).
  • Lead and manage complex actuarial projects, balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Mentor and develop actuarial analysts, providing feedback and fostering professional growth.
  • Promote best practices across the actuarial function and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Qualified actuary with significant experience in capital modelling within the insurance sector.
  • Strong understanding of risk and capital frameworks, including Solvency II and IFRS 17.
  • Proven ability to lead model development, validation, and governance processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing and mentoring actuarial teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects and deliver under pressure.
