Lorien's long-standing, successful (and growing) client, with offices very commutable from Central Edinburgh and the surrounding, is looking to recruit a Business Systems Director to join and lead in a key, brand-new role for the firm as it expands its technical function.

This is a high-impact leadership role with end-to-end responsibility for business systems strategy, delivery, and optimisation. Working closely with the VP of IT, you'll oversee a multi-regional team and play a central role in driving systems innovation, process improvements, and digital transformation initiatives across the business. You'll work across departments, influencing technical direction while ensuring business needs are met with scalable, reliable, and secure systems.

What You'll Be Doing:

• People-manage and develop a distributed team of business systems, data, and other technical staff from recruitment to reviews, training plans and ongoing development.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, coaching team members and identifying opportunities for development.
• Define and deliver the roadmap for business applications, ensuring solutions align with broader IT and business strategies, as well as ongoing system performance and stability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between the business systems function and other departments, managing expectations and ensuring transparency.
• Identify requirements for, and oversee the development and implementation of, software enhancements, system/architectural change, and key upgrades while establishing and maintaining system documentation and standards across platforms.
• Support and guide team members on best practices in software design, database architecture, and systems analysis.
• Monitor budgets and forecasts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.

What You'll Bring:

• Proven experience leading cross-functional IT teams and delivering enterprise-grade systems in a global environment.
• Strong background in systems development/application lifecycle management/similar.
• Demonstrable experience in IT leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement at senior levels.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to work across departments and influence at all levels.
• Ability to manage geographically spread teams, work with people from varying cultural backgrounds, and travel internationally as required.
