Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead and challenge a high-performing engineering team within a dynamic banking environment. This role is critical in driving technical excellence, shaping architectural direction, and delivering scalable, secure solutions aligned with the bank's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams with a focus on delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Challenge existing technical approaches and drive architectural decisions across platforms.
• Collaborate with product, risk, and compliance teams to deliver robust, secure solutions.
• Promote engineering best practices
• Provide hands-on technical leadership and resolve complex engineering challenges.
• Support delivery of strategic initiatives aligned to the bank's transformation roadmap.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or Lead Engineer in banking or financial services.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to challenge and inspire teams.
• Strong understanding of modern engineering practices: microservices, event-driven architecture
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.

Desirable

• Experience in lending systems
• Contributions to engineering communities or open-source projects.
