Job Title: Senior AI Technical Architect (Azure Cognitive Services)
Location: Hybrid
Duration: 6-12 month initial contract with potential extension



About the Role
One of Loriens leading Public Sector Clients are embarking on a pioneering programme to enhance document intelligence, search, and multilingual transcription capabilities using Microsoft Azure's Cognitive Services. We're seeking a hands-on Senior AI Technical Architect who brings deep technical expertise across Python, C#, React, and the Azure AI ecosystem to lead the design and delivery of several proof-of-concept (PoC) projects.



Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement scalable AI solutions using Azure AI Services, including:
    • Azure AI Document Intelligence
    • Azure AI Speech (speech-to-text, text-to-speech, speaker recognition)
    • Azure AI Translator
    • Azure AI Search
  • Lead technical PoCs for:
    • Multilingual speech transcription and translation
    • Intelligent document parsing and metadata extraction
    • Cognitive search across structured and unstructured documents
  • Collaborate closely with product owners, analysts, and data governance stakeholders
  • Set architecture patterns, API contracts, and integration approaches with existing systems
  • Mentor developers and provide technical leadership across the AI portfolio
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility, legal and ethical AI standards in public sector settings


Technical Requirements
Essential:

  • Proven track record designing AI/ML solutions with Azure Cognitive Services
  • Strong hands-on experience in:
    • Python (data workflows, Azure SDKs)
    • C#/.NET (integration with enterprise systems)
    • React (frontend POC/demo apps)
  • Deep understanding of:
    • RESTful API design & consumption
    • Azure AI service orchestration & pipelines
    • Cognitive Search (keyword, semantic & hybrid modes)
    • OCR, key-value pair extraction, and document layout analysis
  • Experience building or deploying:
    • Speech transcription pipelines
    • Document intelligence models
    • Multilingual translation solutions

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with:
    • Azure OpenAI Service
    • Azure Content Safety and governance policies
    • Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of court or legal systems (highly advantageous but not essential)


Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Pragmatic problem solver with a user-focused mindset
  • Comfortable leading architectural discussions and hands-on delivery
  • Experience working in agile, cross-functional public sector teams
