Best Recruitment Company to work for

Why Lorien?

Lorien is the heart, head, and home of digital talent solutions. We are one of the UK’s largest technology staffing businesses, and with a 45-year legacy, we've worked in technology since pretty much the beginning - before laptops, the internet, and the first Mac. Yes, really. Today, we’re a haven for people that are passionate about digital and love being at the centre of the industry. We work with some of the most exciting and innovative digital-first businesses in the UK, Europe, and North America and every year we help thousands of candidates find their next foot on the career ladder.

We’re also a multi-award-winning talent solutions provider, home to industry-recognised influencers in the recruitment industry, and our awards shelf includes Best Talent Solutions Firm to Work For 2022 (TIARA Talent Solutions) and a Gold Investors in People accreditation. And that’s because Lorien is more than the work that we do. We’ve created a place that people enjoy being part of.

Our culture

Our culture

We’re proud to be an international business with a close-knit, family feel. We believe in team spirit and love nothing more than getting together, sharing expertise, helping each other out, and having fun together.

When we’re not working as a community, we’re celebrating our individuality. We have a flexible work culture and trust people to make their own decisions – from what they wear to where they work. And at Lorien, everyone has the chance to make an impact. We believe in treating everyone equally and that great ideas really can come from anywhere – and you’ll be constantly encouraged to share yours.

Launch a long-term career

Launch a long-term career at Lorien

In 2020, Lorien lined up to cheer on Tony Kelleher as he made his 25-year milestone entry into the office. But funnily enough, that’s not that unusual for Lorien. Our people are definitely keepers. Nearly 8 in 10 people that join us, stay with us, and last year 67% of people moved up or sideways in the business, making room for the 100+ people we welcomed onboard. In fact, our best example of career progression starts at the very top – our portfolio CEO started out as a resourcer within the business.

The Lorien difference is that our RPO and MSP staff are all talented and empowered recruitment specialists, who thrive on collaborating with our customers. Our Employer Brand in recruitment outsourcing is, we feel, quite unique – we embrace the fact that while we design and deliver on complex and successful solutions, at our heart Lorien remains a recruitment business. As a result, when you come and join Lorien, you immediately notice how much we have invested in our direct sourcing capabilities, our delivery function, our CRM, and our credible vertical specialists. We absolutely trust in the knowledge and expertise of these vertical specialists and as a result we encourage autonomy in the workplace. This culture means our people are free to make decisions and to be creative in deploying effective talent acquisition solutions – all in the best interests of their clients.

Lorien is helping me build the UK's best data practice
Nathan

Like many aspiring recruiters I found success in my career by specialising in one skillset, in my case it was all about data. Having progressed through the ranks of a leading boutique I became a genuine expert in all things data but in a crowded marketplace, where many of the largest companies were partnering with MSP or RPO providers, I found I was increasingly being held at arm’s length from the best projects and programmes and operating on the periphery of the market rather than at the heart of it. Joining Lorien changed that overnight. Within my first few weeks I was leading an exclusive data campaign in one of the UK’s largest banks while upskilling eager colleagues to focus on data as their chosen field. Six months in and we are fast establishing Lorien as a market leader in my space. Lorien have delivered on all their promises and exceeded my expectations in how I am welcomed with open arms into every area of the business. It makes me even more motivated to mirror that commitment and build the best Data Practice in the UK and offer similar career opportunities for people in my team.

A great place to try new things and progress

During my three years with Lorien, I have been given a varied and unique look into the financial workings of recruitment. Starting as an Accounts Payable Administrator I have been able to develop and take on responsibilities within the management accounts team. Now earning the title of Assistant Accountant, I have been involved with exciting projects such as our expansion into Germany and the fast-paced Statement of Work Project. During this time, I have enrolled on an Accounting and Taxation Level 7 course with the aim of becoming a qualified management accountant and continuing to develop at Lorien. Lorien is a great place to learn new skills, experience different challenges, and progress your career.

Being part of a family that invests in your future

My time at Lorien has been a mini whirlwind. I was there for just over a year before COVID-19 hit and like many people at other companies at the time I had to be let go. Although that might seem like it would have been the end of my Lorien journey, six months later the business approached me to ask if I was interested in returning. I jumped at the opportunity, as not only is the position diverse, challenging, and exciting, but the Manchester team has the most welcoming, fun, and unique bunch of characters. Returning to Lorien has been the best decision for me – I’m succeeding in my role, I’ve had a promotion, and I’m part of a family that challenges and drives me to attain my career goals
