Data Scientist - Fraud Strategy
Role Overview
We're seeking a motivated individual to join our team focused on safeguarding against financial risks. This role involves contributing to initiatives that enhance detection methods, analyze exposure, and minimize potential losses. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in analytics, strategy refinement, and predictive modeling within a risk-oriented environment.
What We're Looking For
- Up to two years of experience in areas such as risk analysis, data science, or investigative analytics, ideally within sectors like digital commerce, payment systems, or trust and safety.
- A degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., analytics, statistics, mathematics, or similar) or equivalent practical expertise.
- Strong foundation in applying statistical and data science techniques to solve business challenges.
- Skilled in SQL, Python, and Excel, including familiarity with common data science libraries.
- Ability to create clear, impactful visualizations using tools like Tableau.
- Comfortable handling large and complex datasets.
- Capable of translating technical findings into actionable insights for diverse audiences, including leadership teams.
- Adaptable in uncertain situations while driving projects toward measurable outcomes.
- Proven ability to make data-driven decisions and collaborate effectively to deliver meaningful results.
- Bonus points for exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), fraud detection systems, machine learning workflows, or payment risk frameworks.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and refine rules aimed at identifying and reducing fraudulent activity.
- Build scripts and models to support strategic objectives.
- Investigate significant or unusual cases and determine underlying causes.
- Shape approaches for managing various risk categories.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to strengthen control mechanisms.
- Present recommendations and guide implementation efforts.
