The technician will also assist with field coordination, material tracking, and ensure all installation work meets project scope and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and modify primary/secondary distribution equipment (PBDs, BDFBs, BDCBBs, inverters/converters)
  • Terminate and lace power and ground cabling, perform lug crimping, and connect alarms
  • Interpret and work from electrical drawings, blueprints, and line diagrams (24VDC, 48VDC, 130VDC)
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and load testing on battery plants and UPS systems
  • Install ironwork and cable rack with understanding of seismic/Zone 4 requirements
  • Lead and support crews on-site; assist with training and enforcing safety protocols
  • Estimate, request, and inspect job materials; follow direction from Lead Installer
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA and internal safety policies

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with DC power installations, UPS, and battery systems (-48V, +24V)
  • Familiar with VRLA, wet cell, NiCAD, and emerging battery systems
  • Strong background in BDFB/BDCBB installations and battery expansions
  • Ability to work independently, follow technical documents, and complete tasks with minimal oversight
  • Proficient in interpreting blueprints, power schematics, and electrical theory
  • Skilled with diagnostic tools (DVMs, hydrometers, DLROs, load testers, o-scopes)
  • Understanding of OHM's Law and electrochemical principles of batteries
  • Comfortable working in the field, including outdoors, ladders, confined spaces, and near electrical components
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and commit to job-related travel as needed
