UPS Technician - Field Service
Phoenix, AZ

We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated UPS Technician to join a growing Service team. This role is essential in supporting and maintaining backup power infrastructure across telecom, data center, industrial, and utility sectors. The ideal candidate will perform maintenance and repair work, assist with new installations and commissioning, and respond to emergency service needs.
This position offers hands-on technical work, problem-solving opportunities, and regional travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform battery testing, load bank testing, and environmental inspections on UPS systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair power modules, batteries, capacitors, and related components
  • Document all work performed, including test results and service logs
  • Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules based on manufacturer and customer requirements

Installations, Start-Ups, & Technical Support

  • Support and oversee UPS system installations, load testing, and acceptance testing
  • Provide technical support to customers both remotely and on-site
  • Train customer personnel on basic system operation and maintenance

DC Power Systems

  • Install and maintain battery strings, rectifier plants, inverters, converters, and associated cabling
  • Conduct load testing and prepare technical reports for customers

Project Coordination & Customer Visits

  • Collaborate with internal teams to coordinate field projects
  • Conduct periodic site visits for system checks and minor maintenance

Professional Development & Training

  • Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and OEM certifications

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a UPS Technician or in a related technical role
  • Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in electrical/electronic systems
  • Familiarity with installation codes and safety standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NFPA)
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with customers
  • Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays
  • Comfortable working in technical environments such as IT rooms and mechanical spaces
  • Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, work from ladders, and perform tasks in varied conditions
