Senior Lead Controls Engineer - 2nd Shift
Location: Alabama
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 7:30 PM-6:00 AM
(Training on 1st shift. Occasional Friday/weekend coverage as needed.)
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Lead Controls Engineer to support a high-volume transmission assembly operation. This role partners with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and drive continuous improvement through controls design, troubleshooting, and automation enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Improve equipment uptime and resolve manufacturing process issues
- Provide cross-functional controls troubleshooting support
- Design, program, and implement industrial automation systems
- Develop and modify Siemens PLC logic, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Diagnose control system issues to reduce downtime
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Specify and support manufacturing equipment installation, upgrades, and maintenance
- Analyze equipment performance and reliability
- Provide technical guidance to maintenance and engineering teams
- Mentor and support less-experienced engineers and technicians
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years manufacturing experience and 1+ year in a lead role, or
- Master's degree with 3+ years manufacturing experience and 1+ year in a lead role, or
- 8+ years manufacturing experience with 1+ year in a lead role
Preferred Skills
Siemens PLCs, HMI/SCADA, vision systems (Fanuc, Keyence, Cognex), SQL databases, MES, AGVs, medium/low voltage power distribution, strong troubleshooting and communication skills, and willingness to travel internationally.
