Fraud Data Scientist (AI)
Job Title: Fraud Risk Data Scientist
Location: San Jose, CA (hybrid)
Type: Contract
Pay Rate: $45.00-49.00/hour (dependent on experience)
Summary:
Exciting opportunity to join our baking client on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have 3-5+ years' overall relevant experience, have a passion for innovative solutions, and live within a commutable distance to San Jose, CA. Experience with application of LLMs is also highly desirable!
Responsibilities:
- Build and refine machine learning and AI models to detect and reduce fraud.
- Analyze large datasets to uncover patterns and insights that inform risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deploy scalable, real-time fraud solutions.
- Monitor model performance and develop dashboards to track key metrics.
- Translate complex findings into clear recommendations for stakeholders across technical and business teams.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of AI tools, including large language models, for risk-related use cases.
Qualifications:
- 2-6 years of experience in Machine Learning, AI, data science, or risk analytics (preferably in eCommerce, payments, fraud, or abuse prevention).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Analytics or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong command of Python, SQL, AWS, and Excel, including key data science libraries.
- Skilled in data visualization tools, especially Tableau.
- Proven ability to work with large datasets and communicate results effectively to diverse audiences.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving AI projects toward measurable business outcomes.
- Experience applying LLMs or other AI tools to fraud or risk scenarios is a preferred skill.
