Lead DC Service Tech
Lead Service Technician (Level 4)
Rialto, CA
-Direct hire pay: $34.50-$38.50/hr ($72k - $80k annually)
-Travel Required: Approximately 50% (covered by employer)
This is a safety sensitive role responsible for leading installations, performing system upgrades, and overseeing field operations that support critical telecom, UPS, and utility infrastructure. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in DC power systems, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of DC power experience (telecom, UPS, or utilities).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with solid math, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and customer specific software systems.
- Extensive knowledge of DC power installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting standards.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted (and 150 lbs. with assistance), climb, bend, and work in confined spaces.
- Willingness to travel frequently (approximately 50%), including overnight stays.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install batteries and rectifier battery plants across all voltage levels per customer and industry specifications.
- Perform ironwork and cable rack installations, including Zone 4 environment requirements.
- Install, maintain, and test primary and secondary distribution equipment such as PBDs, BDFBs, and BDCBBs.
- Perform diagnostics, load testing, voltage checks, and troubleshooting of DC power systems.
- Manage DC power plant upgrades and replacements with minimal service disruption.
- Run and terminate power cables, crimp lugs, lace cables, and verify proper connections.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and generate service reports.
- Prepare test reports, job documentation, and Method of Procedure (MOP) documents.
- Work with AC power systems (120V single-phase to 480V three phase).
- Supervise job sites, inspect tools and equipment, enforce safety standards, and mentor Level 1-2 technicians.
- Maintain communication with leadership regarding job progress, materials, and engineering updates.
