Technical Business Analyst

We are seeking a technically adept Business Analyst to support our frontend web and mobile engineering teams. This role goes beyond traditional business analysis and requires a strong foundation in technical systems, particularly in API integration and frontend architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Translate complex business requirements into detailed technical specifications, including user stories, defects, and spikes using tools like Jira.
• Collaborate with engineering leads to review and refine API contracts, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs.
• Investigate and troubleshoot issues by analyzing logs, business logic, and system behavior to identify root causes.
• Serve as a communication bridge between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, clearly articulating technical constraints and dependencies.

• Technically curious and thorough-asks the right questions and ensures no detail is overlooked.
• Confident yet humble communicator who can lead discussions and extract actionable insights.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments with cross-functional teams.

Required Technical Skills:

• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within software development teams.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, including contract analysis and support.
• Proficiency in markup and data formats such as JSON, XML, and YAML.
• Familiarity with tools like Postman for API testing and UNIX-based systems for log analysis.
• Experience with Jira and other Agile project management tools.

Highly Preferred:

• Experience with AWS and Cloud Concepts including Lambda, Fargate, CloudWatch
• Experience with Service Now, and ITIL framework with an understanding of Change and Incident management
• Familiarity with GitLab and source control concepts
• Experience supporting Mobile platforms such as iOS and Android native
• Experience with airline concepts: shopping, ticketing, booking, inventory, seat selection

There are two main functions for this role.

1. Taking on large sets of business requirements, refining them, and breaking them down into technical requirements for the development Team viaJira stories, defects, and spikes
   1. Ability to analyze API contracts and make suggestions to the Tech Lead and software engineers on changes driven by business requirements
2. Investigating and troubleshooting issues. Analyzing business requirements, and application logs to pinpoint issues
   1. As an extension, we need someone with strong communication skills who can translate technical limitations or dependencies into language that non-technical partners can clearly understand
