Position Overview

We're seeking a skilled Field Survey Supervisor to lead daily operations of survey crews in the field. This role involves overseeing a variety of tasks including site layout, topographic data collection, boundary identification, and post-construction reporting. You'll use advanced surveying technology and ensure data accuracy, safety compliance, and team productivity while maintaining strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field teams in executing survey tasks such as construction staking, topographic surveys, boundary mapping, and final documentation.
  • Operate high-precision instruments including robotic total stations (Trimble, Leica, Spectre), GPS RTK units, 3D laser scanners, and digital data collectors.
  • Perform real-time calculations, create field sketches, and ensure reliable data collection and transfer.
  • Safely transport and maintain survey equipment and vehicles, adhering to safety protocols and maintenance schedules.
  • Mentor junior crew members, promoting efficiency and adherence to project timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on-site, providing updates and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Take on additional field duties as needed to uphold quality and accuracy standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in land surveying, including team leadership.
  • High school diploma required; strong foundation in math, technology, and computer applications.
  • Proficient in modern surveying equipment and software.
  • Proven leadership and collaboration skills with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and pursue certifications (e.g., OSHA, Hazwoper, TWIC).
  • Skilled in field calculations and data validation.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and travel overnight when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on foot for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of safely operating in active construction zones and high-traffic environments.
