Network Operations Technician
Location: will work onsite Mon-Fri at the University of Texas at Austin
Pay Rate: $34-38/hr
Length: 1 year contract, option to convert/extend

About the Role
Join our Network Operations team and keep Small Cell Networks running. You'll resolve reactive maintenance tickets, complete preventative maintenance, and perform network acceptance for new and modified sites.
What You'll Do

  • Work safely at all times, protecting yourself, your team, customers, and the public.
  • Respond to network outages, impairments, and emergencies in your assigned area.
  • Complete annual preventative maintenance inspections to company standards.
  • Perform acceptance testing on new and modified networks.
  • Use RF and fiber test equipment, including PIM analyzers, antenna analyzers, RF power meters, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, OTDRs, fusion splicers, and fiber optic power meters.
  • Use web-based Small Cell Network tools to complete assigned technical and administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures, with integrity and a commitment to quality.

What You'll Bring
Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years' experience in wireless/wireline operations, OSP/ISP, or a related field
  • Hands-on knowledge of fiber, coax, and low-voltage troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of radio transmitters, receivers, antennas, and electronic and fiber optic theory
  • Valid state driver's license with a non-negligent driving record
  • Ability to safely drive and operate a boom truck in the public right of way
  • Clear verbal and written communication
  • Comfort working in web-based ticketing and network monitoring systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively

Strongly Preferred

  • Associate's or two-year technical degree
  • Wireless/wireline operations experience, or equivalent military experience

Working Conditions

  • Work takes place in the public right of way, with exposure to extreme weather, radio frequency, and the general public.
  • Physical demands include lifting up to 75 pounds, stooping, and climbing ladders.
  • Availability required for after-hours, weekend, and holiday work, plus on-call duty as conditions require.
  • Extended travel away from home may be required.
