Software Developer
We are seeking an experienced Software Developer / Full Stack Developer to support the development, enhancement, and production support of business-critical applications within the energy industry.
This role will focus heavily on backend application development, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and cloud/container technologies, while also supporting front-end web applications. The developer will work on applications supporting areas such as pricing, transaction management, supply, contracts, reporting, and operational data.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support full-stack web applications and backend services
- Develop and maintain REST APIs supporting business applications and system integrations
- Build and support applications using Python and JavaScript, including React-based web applications
- Work extensively with PostgreSQL databases, including database design, queries, performance, troubleshooting, and application integration
- Develop and support applications running in Docker and Kubernetes environments
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot applications within AWS and/or GCP cloud environments
- Support integrations involving REST APIs, CSV/XML files, EDI, and other external data sources
- Assist with production support, troubleshooting, monitoring, and ongoing application improvements
- Apply best practices for Git/version control, Linux/Windows operating systems, application development, and system design
- Contribute to the design and development of high-volume, scalable applications
- Collaborate with technical and business teams supporting pricing, supply, transaction management, reporting, and other operational applications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software/application development experience
- Strong development experience with Python and/or JavaScript
- Experience developing and supporting web applications and REST APIs
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Practical experience working within AWS and/or GCP
- Experience working with Git and modern software development best practices
- Experience working within Linux and/or Windows environments
- Experience developing or supporting high-volume applications, including an understanding of scalable system design
- Strong troubleshooting and production support skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with React
- Experience with SQL Server
- Experience with GraphQL
- Experience building web scrapers
- Experience processing or integrating data through EDI, XML, and CSV
- Experience with application monitoring tools such as Datadog
- Experience with PostgreSQL administration, including backups, disaster recovery, upgrades, and database infrastructure
- Experience supporting legacy applications or applications acquired through mergers and acquisitions
- Experience within the energy, utilities, or energy retail industry
- Knowledge of energy business operations such as pricing, sales, billing, supply, and transaction management
