Senior Controls Engineer
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to support robotic automation and manufacturing initiatives within a fast-paced automotive environment. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on PLC programming, robot integration, and system commissioning.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring production systems are fully operational, optimized, and ready for launch within live plant environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead PLC programming, commissioning, debugging, and optimization of automation systems
- Support robot integration and coordination across manufacturing cells
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in live production environments under tight timelines
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and system layouts
- Optimize cycle times, system performance, and production reliability
Required Qualifications
- Strong PLC programming experience, including Omron PLCs (CX-One)
- Proven experience with commissioning, debugging, and troubleshooting automation systems
- Background in automotive manufacturing environments
- Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical prints, wiring diagrams, and control panels
- Valid passport for travel between the U.S. and Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with industrial robotics (Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki, Yaskawa)
- Exposure to dispense systems (sealants, adhesives, urethane)
- Experience with welding or material handling applications
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet)
- Experience in Body-in-White (BIW) or automotive assembly systems

- Strong troubleshooting mindset with the ability to quickly diagnose issues
