Job Description
A growing design and construction organization is seeking an organized, innovative, collaborative, and forward‑thinking Civil Designer I to support site development projects. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
To Be Successful in This Role
- Strong mathematical background with a solid understanding of civil engineering principles (e.g., hydrology, grading).
- Demonstrated interest in site development.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, development teams, construction teams, and external consultants to develop coordinated construction documentation.
- Assist in producing complete and accurate site design documents that align with project goals, schedules, and milestones.
- Support site design and plan preparation, including:
- Site layouts
- Grading plans
- Stormwater management
- Erosion control
- Utility layouts
- Participate in site design, consultant, and project team meetings.
- Gather background site data using publicly available and online resources.
- Assist in analyzing site constraints and existing conditions.
- Support zoning code review and research of applicable regulatory and agency requirements.
- Perform foundational CAD drafting tasks and basic engineering calculations.
- Apply fundamental design principles to solve routine problems.
- Seek guidance when addressing unfamiliar or complex issues.
- Perform work with a high degree of collaboration and attention to detail.
- Contribute to a positive team environment and ongoing professional development.
- Establish and pursue annual personal and professional development goals aligned with project and organizational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Approximately 1+ years of relevant site development or civil design experience.
- Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (EIT) exam.
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) designation.
