This position provides electrical and controls engineering support for industrial and power generation facilities. The role partners closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external vendors to support system reliability, commissioning, troubleshooting, and long-term asset performance across multiple sites.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical fundamentals with hands-on field experience, communicates effectively with diverse stakeholders, and contributes to continuous improvement of standards, processes, and system performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering support to project execution and implementation teams across multiple facilities
  • Participate in site visits, inspections, testing, and commissioning activities to support construction, startup, and ongoing operations
  • Define technical criteria and review requirements for electrical system changes, upgrades, and modifications
  • Evaluate design alternatives and recommend solutions that balance cost, quality, operability, maintainability, and long-term reliability
  • Act as a technical interface between operating facilities and internal subject matter experts for complex electrical and controls issues
  • Collaborate with plant personnel, external engineering consultants, maintenance organizations, and equipment suppliers
  • Build effective working relationships to coordinate engineering and operational activities
  • Produce clear, accurate technical documentation, reports, calculations, and correspondence

Additional Responsibilities

  • Apply and expand engineering knowledge, methods, and best practices to assigned work
  • Serve as a technical resource supporting multiple dispatchable or continuously operating facilities
  • Function as Engineer of Record for assigned electrical systems and equipment, as applicable
  • Support inspection, testing, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of electrical, controls, and instrumentation systems
  • Promote standardization and consistency by applying and contributing to technical standards, specifications, procedures, and lessons learned
  • Support asset reliability initiatives by assessing equipment condition, identifying risks, and developing long-term improvement strategies
  • Provide secondary engineering support during equipment failures, abnormal conditions, or operational events
  • Perform engineering analyses and develop solutions under the guidance of senior engineers when required

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Support of industrial or power generation facilities (e.g., thermal, gas, combined cycle, or similar environments)
  • Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and industrial automation platforms
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Industrial communication protocols (e.g., serial and Ethernet-based protocols)
  • Data links, interface devices, and real-time control or automation hardware
  • Windows-based operating systems and server environments
  • Industrial cybersecurity concepts and compliance requirements
  • Instrumentation systems and field devices
  • Control logic review, modification, and implementation
  • Control system networking, databases, and system integration
  • Development and maintenance of control system data links
  • Reading and interpreting Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Understanding of plant processes and system interdependencies
  • Control system troubleshooting involving hardware, software, logic, alarms, and human-machine interfaces
  • Configuration changes, graphics updates, and limited loop tuning
  • Development of control philosophies and functional design documentation
  • Factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and startup activities
