Field & Lab Support

  • Troubleshoot issues involving recloser controls, automated switchgear, protective relays, and communications hardware.
  • Perform bench testing on new controls, modems, firmware, and configurations.
  • Provide real‑time assistance to instrumentation & controls technicians, line crews, operational support teams, and grid technicians.
  • Execute or oversee recloser reprogramming in the field.
  • Support the commissioning of automated switchgear and telecommunications upgrades.

Communications & Provisioning

  • Diagnose modem provisioning challenges, network connectivity issues, and communication path failures.
  • Correct provisioning errors such as configuration mismatches or device registration defects.
  • Support telecom replacement programs and staging activities.
  • Train provisioning teams and create clear job aids and documentation.

Controls & Technology Testing

  • Test new firmware packages, communication templates, modem images, and emerging control platforms.
  • Install and evaluate pilot technologies for field trials.
  • Validate connectivity and software operation prior to deployment.

Process Development & Training

  • Interpret new standards or engineering requirements and convert them into field‑ready procedures.
  • Create or update troubleshooting guides, job aids, and process documentation.
  • Provide informal or scheduled training to technical support groups such as I&C, reliability, power quality, grid operations, and help desk personnel.

Data & System Support

  • Load, validate, and maintain device configuration and system data for automated distribution equipment.
  • Test system functionality in collaboration with IT partners.
  • Support access approvals and contribute to workflow improvements.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as a liaison across engineering, operations, standards, design teams, reliability groups, and vendor partners.
  • Coordinate with vendors on returns, firmware defects, communication anomalies, and device irregularities.
  • Identify gaps in materials, documentation, or processes and implement improvements.

Logistics & Material Support

  • Manage shipments, staging, programming, and configuration of controllers and switchgear assets.
  • Assist with readiness, tracking, and inventory workflows related to control and communication devices.
