Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant- 6 month contract
📍 Location: SugarLand, TX
🕒 Travel: Up to 20% (including some overnight stays)

About the Role:
We're seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll apply accounting principles to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with GAAP and company procedures. Key Responsibilities:

• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries for general ledger accounts.
• Perform statistical analyses to identify trends and provide narrative reports.
• Prepare balance sheets, P&L statements, and other reports to interpret current and projected financial positions.
• Ensure proper handling and approval of financial transactions within designated limits.
• Monitor compliance with GAAP and internal controls, including SOX procedures.
• Investigate and correct errors in financial entries and reports.
• Assist with annual budgeting and recommend improvements to accounting operations.
• Prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns.
• Oversee regional fleet vehicle billing and ensure accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Accounting/Finance.
• CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA (required).
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUPs) a plus.
• Experience with JD Edwards or other ERP systems preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
