BESS Engineer
 Job Overview
 Employees in this role have the responsibility of planning, designing, and executing various aspects of energy storage projects. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, engineering oversight and consulting across cross functional teams to deliver a best-in-class product.
 The ideal candidate embodies a blend of technical expertise with strong project management skills, and has pertinent experience the energy storage field.
 Duties & Responsibilities
- Support design phase and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects.
 - Recognize inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective action, and strive for better design quality and efficiency.
 - Identify and resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future solutions.
 - Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts.
 - Support projects from inception to completion by working closely with project managers.
 - Influence project teams on engineering tasks.
 - Stay updated on project progress and technical issues.
 - Manage project milestones and recognize risks.
 - Collaborate with suppliers to integrate major equipment.
 - Work with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls.
 - Understand specifications for major equipment purchasing, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions.
 - Understand permitting requirements, propose solutions to legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements.
 - Handle other assigned duties as needed.
 - Travel 25% of the time for project specific duties.
 
 
 Preferred Experience
- 3+ Years experience Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction.
 - Expertise in one or more of these areas: Power electronics, Battery storage system design, Substation design, Generation tie design.
 - Familiarity with energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters.
 - Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections).
 - Familiarity with IEC 61215, 61646, 61730.
 - Ability to handle specialized technical tasks independently.
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
