Golang Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a contractor to contribute to the evolution of the Go ecosystem within Dropbox's rServer monorepo. This role involves leading a diverse range of initiatives, including:

• Regularly upgrading rServer to the latest Go SDK and runtime.
• Developing tools to streamline the integration and maintenance of third-party Go libraries.
• Updating both internal and external foundational Go libraries.
• Enhancing debugging tools and improving IDE integration.
• Supporting and refining linters and static analysis utilities.
• Integrating Go tooling with dependency management systems.
• Advancing documentation and best practices to improve the Go developer experience.
• Promoting the adoption of modern profiling and performance optimization techniques.

The contractor will work closely with full-time engineers across teams such as Repo Rangers, Build Toolchains, and other infrastructure and platform groups. They will also be expected to provide support during business hours for all Go-related development needs.

Candidate Requirements

We're looking for a highly skilled software engineer with:

• A minimum of 8 years of professional programming experience.
• Deep expertise in Go (Golang).
• Familiarity with large-scale software development using Bazel.
• Experience in writing and modifying library code.
• Proficiency in C or C++ is a strong advantage.
• A solid background in performance profiling, optimization, and operating system internals is highly desirable.
