Job Summary
This role holds single-point accountability and may operate under the general direction of a Project Director or Senior Project Manager. The Project Manager I (PM I) is responsible for managing or supporting all phases of project planning and execution to ensure success across key performance areas, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration.
This position is typically assigned multiple White or Green I projects, as defined by the Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE) Project Profile Matrix. Collectively, these projects are generally valued at under $10M and involve low to moderate complexity, impacting facility- or department-level operations. The PM I acts as the central leader, providing oversight, coordination, and control in alignment with company policies, procedures, and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Team Leadership:
Create, staff, and lead cross-functional project teams. Provide direction, coordination, and oversight to both internal and external stakeholders, including engineering, construction, project controls, supply chain, legal, EHS, QA/QC, and operations. Manage team performance, resolve conflicts, and collaborate with functional managers to support resource allocation and development.
Stakeholder Communication:
Establish and maintain effective communication across all stakeholders. Lead or support project meetings and reporting activities, including kickoff meetings, weekly updates, monthly reports, and project reviews. Ensure alignment with PMCoE standards and present project updates clearly to leadership and governance teams.
Project Planning:
Develop or support comprehensive project plans encompassing scope, schedule, budget, safety, and quality. Oversee key planning activities such as scope definition, cost estimating, scheduling, procurement strategies, vendor selection, equipment planning, and commissioning. Ensure alignment across all project phases from design through turnover and warranty.
Project Execution:
Execute or assist in executing projects in accordance with established plans, ensuring adherence to scope, budget, and schedule. Manage all aspects of project delivery, including stakeholder alignment, risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance, environmental considerations, and change management. Oversee documentation such as work breakdown structures (WBS), resource plans, communication plans, and project closeout activities.
Minimum Qualifications (Project Manager I)
Associate degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience, or
High school diploma/GED and a minimum of 5 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
Professional Engineer (PE) designation
Configuration Management II Professional (CM2-P)
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
