Cell Tower Foreman - Mount Vernon, OH


About the Role

This role offers an opportunity for a qualified and experienced individual to lead a crew in the construction and maintenance of cell towers. You will be responsible for all aspects of site management, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency in accordance with OSHA guidelines. To qualify, experience with Verizon is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage tower and ground operations, including sweep testing, installation, maintenance, and antenna/coaxial cable work.
  • Conduct and document safety briefings and tailgate meetings.
  • Train and develop crew members, providing opportunities for advancement.
  • Manage projects within budget and timeframe.
  • Effectively resolve issues and challenges on the job site.
  • Complete daily paperwork and reports on time.
  • Track and report material usage, manage inventory, and document equipment maintenance.
  • Schedule and conduct inspections to maintain quality control standards.
  • Ensure crew adherence to OSHA safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Understand and utilize crane signals and proper rigging procedures.
  • Perform tower rescues (if necessary).
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and RFDS documents.
  • Possess knowledge of different carriers, color codes, and routing protocols.
  • Troubleshoot tower top issues.
  • Configure RETs and utilize safety protocols like JSAs and tiger teams.
  • Navigate with a compass and understand declination.
  • Perform physical tasks requiring lifting up to 75 lbs.
  • Operate a truck and trailer safely.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Pass pre-employment screenings, including background checks, drug tests, and DOT inspections.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Verizon (other major carriers are preferred as well).
  • Experience climbing towers and working at heights (up to 500 feet).
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in completing paperwork.
  • Understanding of AC/DC electrical requirements and NEC guidelines.
  • Prior experience with LTE upgrades and relevant technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and telecommunications construction practices.
  • Ability to perform rescues, demonstrate safe rigging procedures, and understand working load limits.
  • Knowledge of antenna and equipment mounting procedures.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to qualify as a company driver.
  • Ability to travel, work overtime, and some evenings.

  • ComTrain certification
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • TTT1 certification
  • Connector training
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • PIM certification (and ability to use PIM gear)
  • Sweep certification (and ability to use sweep gear)
  • Fiber certification (and ability to use fiber gear)
  • DOT physical card
