Tower Lead/Top Hand
Mt. Vernon, OH (Columbus Region)


We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tower Lead (Top Hand) to oversee all aspects of tower and ground operations in the Columbus, Ohio region. This role demands a leader with at least 3-5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, preferably with Verizon projects. You'll ensure safety, quality, and efficiency on every jobsite, from sweep testing to complex rigging at heights of up to 500 feet.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of tower and ground operations, including sweep testing, tower maintenance and installation, coaxial and antenna installation, and RF testing - all in accordance with strict OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians on Verizon project requirements, industry best practices, and safe work procedures.
  • Lead effective crew communication, keeping the foreman informed of work progress and any issues.
  • Prioritize safety and quality by conducting daily safety briefings, ensuring crew adherence to OSHA regulations and company standards, and performing advanced tasks like rescues and complex rigging.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in telecommunications, with a strong understanding of OSHA safety and telecommunications construction practices.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and RFDS.
  • Proven ability to climb towers and work safely at heights.
  • Experience with Verizon projects to effectively train junior technicians.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a truck and trailer.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
