Telecom Installer III - Dallas or San Antonio, TX

$24-$26/hr.

Our growing telecommunications client in Dallas (or) San Antonio, TX is seeking a qualified Telecom Installer III to join their team.

This is a position with moderate experience in the telecommunications industry. Under close supervision, the Installer III performs field activities associated with installing, maintaining, and servicing telecommunications equipment. You will typically handle routine, moderately complex products and/or problems, and should be able to provide direction to lower level Installers. Must be open to traveling where the work leads. May be away from home up to a week or two at a time (in this case, per-diem will be provided).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and service telecommunications equipment in the field.
  • Perform additional duties such as adding/removing wiring, lead verification/continuity testing, and assisting with higher-level installations under supervision.
  • Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Test and troubleshoot fiber/copper installations.
  • Discuss media selection and its network implementation implications.
  • Make recommendations based on relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Interpret job plans, perform scope of work tasks, and conduct retrofits/upgrades.
  • May perform duties of a Level IV.
  • Must be willing to travel away from home from time to time.


Qualifications:

  • Moderate technical knowledge of current network products with basic training in safety, business conduct, quality assurance, and ESD
  • Completion of a "Basic Installation" training course or equivalent on-the-job experience
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documentation.
  • Experience with fiber/copper testing, troubleshooting, and installing.
  • Solid understanding of product installation phases.


Education & Experience (one or more from below):

  • Electronics training equivalent to 2 years of technical trade school, military school, 2 years of field service, or as determined by the Installation Manager
  • Proficiency in the system (Network Elements 1, 2, or 3) being worked on
  • Successful completion of Level III Skill Level test
  • Central Office Installation experience is a plus.
