Test Manager Remote - with occasional travel to the office 6-month contract

  • Testing and quality assurance play a crucial role in the implementation of the new Pension and payroll administration platform.
  • The methodology adopted will cover both waterfall and agile development, meaning there will be opportunities to work with both approaches when planning the testing.
  • The Test Manager will take over the technical management and control of the test team and their responsibilities include developing the test approach and strategy, delivery of a test plan as well as reporting to all stakeholders of the programme
  • The test manager should have an excellent level of communication and ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders across the organisation and be flexible with respect to changing scenarios and plans. They will require good analytical and conceptual skills, initiative, and organisational strength, as well as keen leadership skills.

Tasks will include:

  • Developing the test approach, test strategy and test plans for the Pension Platform programme in conjunction with the software supplier
  • Ensuring and being accountable for meeting test standards
  • Organising the testing process and all required logistics with support from the test engineer and project management
  • Planning, coordination, and control of the various test activities
  • Development and definition of suitable test methods and test tools
  • Technical management and control of the testing team
  • Documentation of the test activities and preparation of the results
  • Definition and monitoring of quality goals
  • Ensuring high-quality products are delivered to clients

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven record of establishing, building and maintaining relationships. Experience as a Test Manager within a team.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to a new and ever-changing working environment. Ability to remain positive and focused under pressure, responding quickly and decisively to changing circumstances and to a tight timetable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify key information from various sources of data. With a proven ability of QA/Testing methodologies with software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Hands-on User Acceptance Testing planning and coordination.
  • 5+ years' experience in a Test Management role.

Desirable Skills (where appropriate)

  • Software / Web application testing
  • Experience and knowledge of pensions
  • Test Foundation Certification
