My client in the Public Services industry are looking for an IT Project Manager for a 6 month initial contract. The role will be remote other then needing to attend site for important meetings.

Key Experience

• Establishing effective networks and relationships in a technical IT setting
• Translating a project's objectives in to executable work packages for IT specialists
• Coordinating the simultaneous or sequenced work of multiple teams of IT specialists

Responsibilities

• Establishing themselves quickly and credibly with technical colleagues in the clients and in partner organisations
• Understanding the full range of IT tasks that will be necessary to achieve the project's objectives and timescales (and who needs to be involved in delivery these)
• Gaining an understanding of the clients current project management best practise, standards, processes and tools (particularly in relation to commissioning IT input) so that they can quickly begin to apply these effectively in their work
• Supporting planning of individual IT work packages and building a view of all of these in relation to each other, enabling an understanding of dependencies, risk, resource needs and costs.
• Identifying and securing commitments from relevant teams in IT
• Setting up appropriate processes and tools to monitor progress and facilitate decision-making
• Establishing a proportionate, effective means of providing a view of progress against plan at an individual IT work package level and a combined, overall view using the clients current project reporting process
• Driving the delivery of work packages in line plan and budget
